Cactus Channel - October Residency

As a sort of pre-release celebration, Melbourne’s own The Cactus Channel have announced a Thursday night residency this October at Fitzroy’s The Night Cat ahead of the release of their third album ‘Stay A While’, due out November 3rd.

The album represents a new consciousness and a decisive turning point. Unloosed from their earlier incarnation as an instrumental soul and funk band into something wilder, a little darker and heavier, the new album sees The Cactus Channel diving in deep to dreamlike soundtracks, electrifying wig-outs and woozy meditations.

It’s been a busy year, with the recording and production of their new album, hyped up shows at Bigsound and 6 dates around Australia with City Calm Down.

5.10 ~ Braille Face (band) & Eilish Gilligan
12.10 ~ Laneous Band & Danika Smith
19.10 ~ jade imagine & Plastic
26.10 ~ Allysha Joy & Z*F*E*E

Incognito (Live)

The enduring success of Incognito is one of the great stories of UK music during the last four decades. Look at the recent history of soulful UK artists and you will find any number of short-lived acts that have achieved pop success. Narrow it down to those that have created a uniquely British sound and have endured as a global phenomenon on their own terms, and the list becomes short. Dues, then, to Jean-Paul “Bluey” Maunick and Incognito, formed in 1979 and celebrating 36 years of positive vibes and undiluted Jazz-Funk in 2017.

They now come to The Night Cat for one night only off the back of Carl Cox & Eric Powell's Mobile Disco tour and a sold out show at Mornington Racecourse! Get you tickets now as they won't last long.

GOLD CLASS (SOLD OUT)

Gold Class ONLY MELBOURNE SHOW, 'Drum' - National Album Tour 2017

Drum is the bold second album from Gold Class. The follow-up to 2015 debut It's You, Drum is a brasher, vivid widescreen account of a band hitting its stride while betraying the complex signs and scars of a life since lived.

"I wanted Drum to bridge the gap between being onstage making this loud, rhythmic music and just being a person in the world," says Curley. "In life things are funny, you have crushes on people, things are stupid, you stay out all night. But you're also part of what's going on in the world and you have your own big struggles. I wanted to try to piece that all together."

Drum distils that messy scope into a brave, sometimes brutal but beautiful new document. Whatever will come, the beat - at least - goes on.
